🕯️ Incense burner instructions (for resin and herbs)

An incense burner is perfect for gently diffusing the scent of resin, dried herbs, or herbal blends. This guide applies to both traditional burners with strainers/nets and bowls.

🔥 You need:
An incense burner (with strainer, bowl, or net)
Incense: e.g. frankincense, myrrh, palo santo, sage, lavender
A tea light (for strainer/aroma burner)
Matches or lighters
Optional: incense sand, aluminum foil, charcoal tablets (for stronger smoke)

🌿 Use – herbs and light blends (e.g. lavender, sage, roses)
Place the burner on a fireproof surface.
Place a tea light in the holder and light it.
Place a small amount of dried herbs on the strainer or mesh.
The scent spreads slowly as the herbs char.
Remove the remains with tweezers or a small spoon when they have burned out.
🔄 Tip: Start with small amounts – herbs burn quickly and can otherwise overheat.

🌟 Use – resin (e.g. frankincense, myrrh, copal, dusts)

Variant 1: With a sieve burner (gentle method)

Light the tea light under the strainer.
Place a few small grains of resin on the sieve.
The resin melts and spreads a deep, pleasant scent.
If necessary, use aluminum foil to reduce the heat and avoid burning.

Variant 2: With coal (intensive method)

Fill a fireproof bowl with incense sand.
Light a self-igniting charcoal tablet with tongs and place it on the sand.
Wait until the coals glow evenly (about 5–10 minutes, they will turn gray).
Put a small amount of resin directly on the coals.
Smoke develops quickly – perfect for strong purification and rituals.

⚠️ Note: Use charcoal only in well-ventilated areas. Always stay nearby during use.

🧼 Cleaning and care:
Remove residue regularly with a spoon or brush.
Resin residue can be dissolved with alcohol or hot water + detergent.
Strainers can be cleaned with fire or replaced if necessary.
Let ashes and coals cool completely before throwing them away.
